If you feel the need to describe those of us who are inherently same-gender attracted as “hav[ing] chosen” whom we love, and that we are not lives, but “lifestyle[s],” then you’ve already lost your battle.

It’s degrading, it’s dehumanizing, it’s hateful, but most of all, at least for me, it’s down right humiliating.

Perhaps you didn’t mean to use those words the way they come across, but when you say “chosen” and “lifestyle,” you automatically put us on a lower plane than you. So it comes across as though you’re trying to say that you “do not hate” those of us who are less than you, and inferior to you.

Ultimately what it says is that you do not believe our love is real in the same way that you believe your heterosexual love is real.

Because if our love is not as real as yours, in the same way that it is as real as yours, as intense, and as life meaningful as yours — but we still think it is — then that means we’re a bunch of stupid idiots. Which is why people like me, think people like you, hate us.

Not necessarily because you may think we’re “confused,” or “idiots” per se, but because you’re unwilling, and therefore not honest enough to admit that that’s what you really think about us.

However, I understand that to be so honest with them would be to lose their love.

I don’t envy your quandary.

Or are your gay and/or lesbian friends and family fully aware that you support Proposition 8? If not, then to say that they are your friends and family when they don’t know what harm you are doing to them, is to exploit them for selfish gain.

But you think it’s ok for the government (via referendum) to FORCE people like me to recognize and accept your religious views when it comes to my life? And the love of my life’s life?

As I’ve said, I think the “change” part is just that you’d be “forced” to recognize my love as being as real as yours, in the same way as yours is. So I find your complaint unfair.

It’s actually a fair complaint though, but you’re not complaining it fairly, because you’re not complaining it outright. You’re using unfair descriptions like “chosen lifestyle” to describe your gay and/or lesbian “friends and family.” Would they approve of those descriptions? Have you asked them?

Did you even Google “Six Consequences if Proposition 8 Fails”? They’ve been refuted REPEATEDLY, yet you say:

“I am appalled that those who profess to be against hate and intolerance such as yourselves would spread the very hate and lies they say they oppose.”

Though you neglect to elucidate what those “very hate and lies they say they [people like me] oppose”.

Define “all of the benefits.”

Because if they’re not “all of the benefits,” then I have no apologies for not tolerating your intolerable intolerance.
